1. Anonymous said: Hey Hanna.. What would your advice to to someone who attempted suicide a while ago, and isn't sure how to face their family or cope with anything anymore?

That’s a rather difficult question, anon.

I would say that life is a difficult trial that people have to go through! The adolescent years are especially difficult, because everything’s going out of control. I don’t know how old you are, anon, but if the case is that you’re in those difficult years, here’s my advice for you.

Life may seem bleak at many points, like there’s nothing you can do. It seems like the best option is to try again, to try and go through with it- right?

    Wrong.

Life is a gift- a miracle, even! To live through this life is to go on an adventure, where there’s a new surprise around every corner. I’m not saying bad things won’t happen- they will, often! But, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. It gives you a new outlook on life- one that changes you, and builds you up.

Facing your family is a hard thing to do when you’ve attempted to do something like this. To put it in to words is like trying to put together a puzzle without the edge pieces!

Until you’re ready to face your family with this, I would recommend talking to a close friend, one you know for a fact you can trust with this, and tell them. After awhile, you might feel the courage to face your family, and tell them.

If you truly don’t feel comfortable telling anyone, then perhaps writing it down will help! Taking a journal- one that’s empty- and, whenever you feel distraught, angry, alone, or any other strong emotion, write it down, explaining how you feel.

And for coping… Life is tough. Extremely so. Making it through the day is a challenge, sometimes. But, looking on the positive side of every occasion is how I get through it! Maybe that will help you, anon.

If you need to talk, feel free to send me another message, friend. Or, the website https://www.imalive.org/ can help if you need to talk, but don’t feel comfortable talking to anyone. It’s a lot easier than having to talk on the phone- I can assure you of that!

    But, anon- remember this.

I know it’ll sound corny and silly, but here it goes-

    You are loved.

Keep your chin up, buddy! Because, at the end of every day, there’s a new beginning, and a new chance to live a brighter, happier life.
